EP Release - May 2

To Our Moms

Author: Brandon Watson

When the time came to decide when we would choose to release our very first official EP, Justin, Ryan and I looked at a calendar and judged about how long it would take to finish the work itself, and looked at a window of about 3 weeks that were between the very end of April and the middle of May.  We like to make decisions that have real meaning, and there was a date within that range that immediately jumped out to us all.  So why May 2nd?

On May 2nd, 1996, Annette Denice Watson, an incredible mother of 7, was killed in a tragic car accident that sent reverberations throughout countless lives. Over the years each of us has had to come to terms with that loss in different ways, but one way we all agree on is to honor the legacy of love that Mom left.  That legacy was continued by the woman who ultimately helped to take us in and be a mother to us since, Pamela Lynn Watson, whose birthday also happens to fall on May 2nd.  Both of these women have left indelible imprints upon our lives as both kids and as adults, and so we choose to honor them both by choosing May 2nd to release what we hope to be the first of many albums going forward.

In our personal lives we each try hard to be men and women that have a positive impact on those we come in contact with, to be good influences on the world around us. As a band, we hope that our music will have the same effect, and serve to connect people both to each other and to their own inner selves in ways that help foster self awareness, kindness, truth, and hopefully love for themselves and others.  We believe that this is something that both women want for the world, and we hope to be excellent ambassadors of this.

Moms, we hope that our work makes you proud.

Tomorrow, on May 2nd, please check out our very first release, Things Left Unsaid, available for purchase on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon music, and many others, or check us out at awaitingautumn.com.
